| stars, shine, light. they all seem to be a common theme that continues to pop up at me recently.
the first bible study intervarsity held, it was in John 1, where Jesus is introduced in very philosophical ways, one of them being that He was the LIGHT that came, and darkness (the world) did not understood Him and rejected Him.
a song that i've been constantly listening to is Shine by Matt Redman. I personally love matt redman so much, and haven't listened to his song in a while. And so from time to time when i'm walking to my classes or about to go to sleep, i just go to my ipod and press "shuffle", thus playing ALL my music randomly. And the first song that played one day was Shine, and i just listened to it over and over, because first it was the version from the Passion cd, God of this City, so it was played differently from the original- and i wanted to listen how the acoustics was done and so forth. At the same time, as i kept listening to it over and over, i listened intently to the lyrics, which of course can be said to be one of the, or the most important aspect of the song. And throughout the song, obviously as the title is "Shine", the idea of LIGHT and being a light in the DARKNESS was so dominant. Interesting.. because i just had a bible study yesterday about Jesus being the LIGHt in John 1.
finally, i guess another thing that really caught my eye was when i was listening to pandora, one of the songs that played was titled "Stars are Singing" by mainstay. It was really cool because as i was just listening to the song, it brought me to think about stars.. haha, and mang, i miss stars. being here in cleveland, obviously, as a major city (not as great as Chicago though..), there are no stars to be seen. And as i was just thinking of stars, i reflected how majestic they seem to be. And yet in the song, the stars are singing for Jesus! And the chorus just goes "And the stars are singing out the glory of YOUR wondrous love..." It was just really cool to think how we adore stars so much, or at least i do, and that ultimately, the stars themselves are nothing compared to the majesty of our God. The bridge of the song seem to underline this thought..
"Your name is higher than the heavens, your glory fills a million skies, your heart is reaching down from heaven, and my soul cries out to You."
Even crazier was just how as these stars are shining brilliantly, singing out for God's glory, and glorifying Him in all they are, my mind clicked on how all the various signs pointing in that we should be like these stars. That from John 1, we learn that Jesus is THE LIGHT that ultimately comes and saves us- and from His light, we bear HIS light as disciples. And just as Jesus's purpose was to spread light into the darkest of dark valleys, we are to carry on as light bearers, to be stars of this world. And also to remember that just as stars themselves are singing out to God and have the sole purpose of glorifying Him, and being nothing compared to Jesus Christ, we as stars are nothing compared to the power and majesty of our God.
Your name is higher than the heavens, your glory fills a million skies, your heart is reaching down from heaven, and my soul cries out to You...

| When I survey the wondrous cross, on which the Prince of Glory died, My richest GAIN i count but LOSS. and pour contempt on all my pride. all my pride Lord.
See from his head, his hands, his feet Sorrow and love flow mingled down Did ever such love and sorrow meet Or thorns compose so rich a crown
O the wonderful cross, O the wonderful cross Bids me come and die and find that I may truly live O the wonderful cross, O the wonderful cross All who gather here by grace draw near and bless Your name
Were the whole realm of nature mine That were an offering far too small Love so amazing, so divine Demands my soul, my life, my all
love so amazing. so divine. demands my soul, my life, my all.
| settling..
i shouldn't settle for something, or someone. that would mean i'm just giving up, i'm just comfortable where i am, and am not willing to go further. not motivated to go more than now. there is more, yet if i settle, that would show that i am all right with what is now.
i shouldn't settle. no one should ever settle.

| We're after Your heart never going to stop until we reach You...
now, i understand why i do this. it's not for me, it's for Him.
